這一陣子常聽到這首歌 主唱的聲音很適合唱這種類似gospel music的歌 聽著這幽揚的聲音似乎會引你到太空... (這是什麼形容啊!!) 本來並沒有特別要找這首歌的歌詞 但是這周末在車上聽到這首歌時忍不住跟著哼 奧爸突然冒出一句 "你們有聽懂剛才那一句在唱什麼嗎?" 我說 "那一句?" 奧爸說他剛才是不是唱..I'll give you my life and you can sharpen your knife?? 我跟哥哥都笑出來了 怎麼可能會有這樣的歌詞 仔細聽的結果確定真的有sharpen your knife 但是前面不對啦 後來回家找了歌詞 發現這首歌原來大受爭議的就是他的歌詞 他將Take me to church隱喻為做愛 跟所愛的人一起就像到了天堂 就算是謊言他也崇拜 (Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies) 但是看了MV及一些討論區之後發現 這似乎是一首描述同性戀的歌 (這個MV有男男接吻畫面，如不喜就跳過): 所以歌中一直強調'We were born sick' (在很多人眼中同性戀是一種病) 教會是最反對同性戀的地方 所以Take me to church 還有一種希望能被接受的感覺 歌詞寫的很含蓄但是讓人聯想很多 不過也有人認為這只是一首Love Song 不要想太多 我也這麼覺得 如果不看影片的話只會覺得這是一首情歌 主角心愛女友，將她擺到跟神一樣的地位 崇拜她 這樣看這首歌不是很好嗎 (不過將性愛跟教會擺在一起，本來就是充滿話題) 底下為歌詞: "Take Me to Church" as written by Andrew Hozier Byrne.
